KRIS Piloting Workshop

The KRIS Piloting Workshop was held on January 17th, 2023 to launch the pilot phase of the Kosovo Research Information System (KRIS), a centralized platform for research data collection in Kosovo. The workshop brought together representatives from selected institutions, KRIS Working Group members, and officials from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MESTI) to receive training and provide feedback on the system. The feedback obtained during the pilot phase will be crucial in making any necessary adjustments before the system is made available for public access.

Dr. Edona Maloku Bërdyna, Deputy Minister of MESTI, emphasized the importance of KRIS for decision-making in policy and the significance of the piloting phase and user feedback in further advancing the platform. Ms. Sandra Horina, Head of Office, Austrian Development Cooperation, Local Office Prishtina, stressed the importance and relevance of the platform and its potential contributions to the advancement of higher education and science in Kosovo as a collaborative effort with openly accessible outputs. Dr. Mihone Kerolli Mustafa, Director of IBCM College, representing the ResearchCult Project, highlighted the cooperation with MESTI and HERAS Plus to enable a sustainable intervention towards advancing research and science.

Mr. Aqim Emurli, HERAS Plus Team Leader noted that the KRIS development process required a thorough assessment and evaluation process including designing a KRIS Roadmap and System Specifications, consulting with stakeholders, and shaping the system to meet multipurpose reporting and data needs. He emphasized that the system will be operationalized through an Administrative Instruction that defines formats, functions, roles, and responsibilities of users, and outlines guidelines for proper usage and maintaining system security and integrity.

Overall, the KRIS Piloting Workshop was a key step in ensuring the success of the KRIS system piloting and launching, which will play a vital role in the higher education system in Kosovo and contribute to the advancement of science and society as a whole.
