Embedding the Concept of Learning Outcomes in Achieving Strategic Education Objectives

On 19, 21 and 23 September 2022, HERAS Plus was happy to organise and facilitate tailormade trainings on “Embedding the Concept of Learning Outcomes in Achieving Strategic Education Objectives” with three public universities in Kosovo. The trainings were offered to University “Ukshin Hoti” in Prizren (UUHP), University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj (UASF), University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova (UFAGJ) respectively. The trainings were facilitated by Ms Katja Žibert Kamšek, HERAS Plus international expert.

In general, the program was designed to ensure that participants from all three universities strengthen their skills for developing the Learning Outcomes (LO) based on the predictions for the top skills needed for 2025. The predictions were taken from the Future of the Jobs report (The World Economic Forum, 2020). Thus, the aim was to contribute increasing the relevance of study programmes for the labour market and societal needs. Next, the program focused in building capacities for aligning the designed LO-s with teaching, learning and assessment methods which contributes to the quality of education. Lastly, the participants were coached in developing ideas and tools for enhancing self-evaluations for courses and study programmes.

However, the training for each respective university were streamlined to meet their actual demands, needs, and dynamics. In this regard, the training with the UUHP took place on the 19 September 2022, whereas the emphasis and highlight of the training was in quality assurance mechanisms for reviewing and improving the quality of courses and study programmes. Next, the UASF held the training on the 21 September. Based on the UASF strategic objectives and expressed needs by the university leadership, the training focused on possible ways to measure how students have developed intended LO-s and how to use them in self-evaluation processes. Lastly, the University strategic objectives, and outlined specific needs of the UFAGJ directed the training towards identifying ways to improve the quality and attractiveness of the study programmes as a measure to foster internationalization. The training with UFAGJ took place on the 23 September 2022.
